Flutist and teaching artist Brittany Trotter is an active soloist, orchestral and chamber performer based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A multi-portfolio artist, she performs music ranging from classical, contemporary and jazz styles. Whether on stage or in the classroom, Trotter defines her artistry through dynamic engagement of audiences and students alike by creating opportunities to contribute to the cultural growth of the greater Pittsburgh region.

Equally committed to the advocacy of music education and community engagement, Trotter is a Contributing Faculty in Flute at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. In Pittsburgh, Trotter engages with low income black and multi-cultural youth through her position as the Flute Teaching Artist at the Hope Academy of Music and Art, and as the Program Coordinator of the Hip Hop Orchestra Summer Music Camp. Through these roles and organizations, Trotter helps coordinate and direct scholarship funds and recruit students who would otherwise be unable to afford these musical experiences. Amongst her role as woodwind teacher at Waldorf School of Pittsburgh and flute instructor at Johnstonbaugh’s Music Center in Allison Park, PA, Trotter is committed in fostering her love of music in her students while developing their musical abilities by adapting creative and challenging lessons tailored to the needs of each individual student.
