Come celebrate love, heartbreak, and longing with us.
Desert Hearts bio: The babes of Desert Hearts have spent hours of cross country drives dialing through the static of AM radio to hear a good country DJ who plays real songs. And for the last year and a half, Sister Sludge, DJ Desert Rat, and mt. laurel have been blessed to look out from the Belvedere's stage at the gathering of country-loving and country-curious people from the lgbtq+ communities and beyond. Some people may hesitate to lean into country, but when we play 9 to 5, Take This Job and Shove It, or Come to My Window, we hope that folks are just a little bit restored to our place in a shared struggle down here as they sing and dance along. We've been honored to spotlight queer artists and to give some small benefit to majorly important and mobilized people's struggles. Come do some howlin' at the moon with us!
The Glitterbox Theater:
Glitterbox seeks to be a space where outsiders, dreamers, artists, and activists can build community and seek change. For over a decade, members of the Glitterbox Theater have provided a platform for amateur and DIY theater, with a focus on community accessibility. Our goal is to provide a long term home for member artists, as well as space for emerging artists to cut their teeth. New space opening this spring in West Homestead!
Big Benny Bailey:
Big Benny Bailey is Ben Pierce and Shamir Bailey, two music industry veterans coming together to create a sound rooted in tradition. Formed and based in South Philly, the duo came together after constantly running into each other around town. Bonding over their love of music of all genres, the two craft an organic sound with traces of bluegrass, folk, and country.
Actor and Vocalist Andrew Sa has earned the title of Chicago’s premiere queer country crooner. Sa’s career was rooted in songwriting that highlights his easy and elegant voice, but when he met mentor and pioneer Patrick Hagerty of Lavender Country, “Lonesome Andrew” was born. Diving headfirst into this new persona, he explored the catalogs of his heroes Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, and other classic singers that defined his childhood.
Sa found a home for this new character in The Cosmic Country Showcase, an instant smash hit camp-country revue in Chicago. Check out Andrew Sa’s newly released singles “Dark Phoenix” and “Little Lamb” on streaming services.
100z of Beez x I4A: just two celestial aunties serendipitously joining forces in a steely city only to sing the songs of mothers, spirals and days of the week.
